AFC Wimbledon continue their push in the league and put pressure on current leaders Ipswich with a 4-2 victory over a physical and determined Enfield side.
AFCW started brightly scoring in the opening minutes by Sarah Wentworth from a corner however found themselves level very soon after. The ladies searched for a second goal and piled on the pressure against Enfield scoring in the 30th minute with Liz B who cut into the box and netted the ball with her left foot; post and in.
In the second half it was much the same however against the run of play a mix up at the back saw Enfield level from the penalty spot to make it 2-2. A minute later Rosie Russell found herself in the box twisting and turning Enfield’s back line to finally place the ball in the bottom corner with her left foot in the 53rd minute. In the 77th minute, Georgia Heasman ran down the left hand side and a cross into the box saw Helen Ogle tap the ball home which wrapped up the points for AFC Wimbledon Ladies.
They remain 2nd in the league with it all to play for in the remaining games. Next they face Leyton Orient away on Wednesday 18th March.
